Hi to you all, sorry it has been a couple of weeks since my last communication.
Saturday after 3 years of trying we actually got to run the Egmont Champs finally but in saying that it was a pretty cold day, in fact it got so cold I made the call to reduce the competition from 27 holes to just 18 holes and thankfully with the early start we got to look at some pretty bleak conditions out the clubroom windows as the predicted late afternoon showers hit us.
The winner of the Egmont Champs which is done on gross was Jordan Anderson so as a Stratford lad I think we will claim him though Fitzroy maybe agree to disagree, it was truly a brilliant performance in the brutal conditions and to shoot a 3 under par 69 off the Blue tees was outstanding.
I have attached a list of the top players playing in the gross and a list of the nett players who played off the white and yellow tees according to gender, top 10 in both divisions made it to the prize table.
I can't thank Scotty Campbell from Stratford Automatic Doors enough for his never-ending help with sponsoring. tournaments so for heaven's sake if you need a garage door you call this man or even if it just needs repairs, also thanks to Dan from New World for doing the closest to the pin prizes.
The week prior we held the FedEx Cup final and the winner this year showed you didn't have to be top qualifier with Gonzo Merson leapfrogging his way over the 9 players in front of him to steal the victory from top qualifier Nick Callingham by 1 shot, TC came from 16th place to 8th place to pocket some cash so was the other big mover of the day as the rest of us choked our way round.
This Saturday is qualifying round for Top Dog and we have currently 27 teams entered which is bloody great, if you haven't entered yet or you and your partner can't play Saturday don't panic as you will still make the main draw just means you will be seeded lower but you have to beat the best sometime so why not knock them out first round right.
Weather finally looks half decent for the next couple of Saturdays so see you all there.
