Before I give you and update on the weekends golf results and I’m not sure it’s even my place to say but I regret to let all the club members who receive this email that David Banham has lost his massive battle and passed away Monday evening, Dave has been a big part of our club for many years and spent many of them on the committee in various roles, he will truely be missed and was an absolute gentleman on and off the golf course, RIP David Banham you bloody legend.
The aptly named Mid Winter Open took place on Saturday in tough cold conditions and think we were all shocked as to how decent the weather actually was, I would like to thank the 73 players who braved the conditions and while we lost a good 10 players I thought the turnout was outstanding.
The one and only gross prize we gave out went to Ben Gibson with a 2 under gross 70, there were some outstanding nett scores through the 3 divisions but there was none better than Shane Ngataierua in the senior division who just blew the field away winning by 4 shots with a 76 off the stick, also well done to Olly Campbell shooting 78 for a nett 68 in second place. I have added the results sheet for all divisions.
Sadly we only 7 entries in the ladies but fair to say that Tracy Stuart and Julie Erwood played outstanding in the hard conditions with Tracy winning the day with 38 stablefords from Julie’s 36.
This Saturday we are down to the semifinals of matchplay so let’s get those matches played, for us players on the sideline there will be a haggle, no draw this week so play with ya mates or if you want some new mates come see Brad or me.
