NZVGA Nationals

Well what a week to hold the Nationals. The weather gods reigned havoc at the start of the week meaning the first days play of men's seeding was abandoned as well as the first day of ladies play. Tuesday wasn't much better but we managed to get in a nine hole match play round for men and 18 holes for ladies.

Wednesday weather then dominated again meaning another days play lost. With the weather forecast due to improve we set our sights on playing two nine hole rounds on Thursday for men leaving a full 18 hole round for Fridays finals day. The ladies competition was reduced to a 54 hole tournament allowing for two 18 hole rounds on Thursday and Friday.

We'd like to thank all the competitors for their patience in what was a trying week weather wise. Congratulations to the winners and we hope they had a pleasant time. It was pleasing to see a number of local players successful in winning. Notably Barry Knowles from Stratford winning the Junior Section. Harley Simpson Inglewood winning the Junior Reserves, Brian Eriksen Waitara winning the Intermediates, Darryl Baird Manukorihi winning the Seniors and Ann Braithwaite Strathmore winning the Women's Over Gross.

It was great to see the club coming together and pulling off a well organised event. Thanks to all the volunteers for all their hard work, leading up to and during the week, that helped make it a successful tournament.

A ''BIG'' thanks also to our Sponsors
